18th Annual Norman Lodge Golf Tournament

The eighteenth Norman Lodge golf tournament took place at the excellent Eaglescliffe golf club, near Stockton on Tees, Co. Durham, on Wednesday 14th April 2010.

This was the 15th different course to host the event.

More than one hundred masons and friends enjoyed the magnificent course and the excellent facilities at the club. The day was blessed by good weather which made for some fine golf.

The overall winner, with 42 points, was Mr Gary Pickering from Chester le Street.
Mr Pickering, a guest of W Bro Alan Dufton the event organiser, was playing his 15th tournament and this was his first win.

In the evening a splendid meal was provided by the golf club, after which the many trophies and prizes were presented by W Bro Ken Howe Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Durham.

Mr Gary Skyner, a comedian from Liverpool, entertained with his inimitable brand of humour.
Mr Skyner was the second thalidomide child born in this country, and the lodge was able to help his charity which has fought for compensation for those affected.

The Norman Lodge Golf tournament is a charity event and raised in excess of £1900 through the generosity of the participants, the providers of prizes and the many sponsors assiduously courted by W Bro Dufton.
Our thanks go to all who made the day such a success both socially and financially.

Once again W. Bro. Alan Dufton organised the day and was ably assisted by W. Bros. Doug Barkess, Bev Thompson, Barry Smith and John Pennington who ensured the smooth running of the day.
